Bond and Bywater : Privacy Policy

The following information explains our policy regarding the personal information we collect about you.

1 - Statement of Intent

Certain sections of the website request that you supply your personal information (i.e. your e-mail address, name, contact details) so that you may utilise the services on our site and by entering these details you enable us to provide you with the services you select (such as sending us an order for goods).

Whenever you supply this information, Bond and Bywater will treat the information in accordance with this policy and will act in accordance with current Internet best practice.

2 - Information Stored Regarding Site Visitors

During the course of any visit to this website, the web pages you see, together with something called a cookie, are sent to your computer (see "What are Cookies and where are they used on the Bond and Bywater website?" in point 3 below for more on this). The majority of web sites on the Internet (if not all) do this, as cookies allow the website publisher to do useful things like find out whether the computer / its user has visited the site before. This is done on a repeat visit by checking to see if a cookie has been left there on a previous visit.

Any information that is supplied through cookies can help us to provide you with a better service. The Bond and Bywater site utilises cookies to maintain the shopping cart system we provide - items you select to purchase from our online catalogue are stored in cookies. The cookies remain on your computer until either your order is submitted to us, or a period of 7 days passes (by setting the expiry period of 7 days, you may return to our site within that period to complete your unprocessed order).

3 - What are Cookies and where are they used on the Bond and Bywater website?

When you use the Bond and Bywater website shopping cart system, your computer will automatically be issued with a cookie. Cookies are text files that identify your computer to our web server. Cookies themselves do not identify the individual user (you), just the computer used.

Cookies themselves only record the products you have selected to buy and are only valid for a specific period of time (in the case of our shopping cart, the period is 7 days). Users have the opportunity to set their computers to accept all cookies, to notify them when a cookie is issued, or not to receive cookies at any time. The last of these, of course, means that certain personalised services cannot then be provided to that user.

Cookies are only utilised by our site in the following circumstances:

i) When you add, amend or remove products to and from our Shopping Cart facility

ii) You sign in, or out using the Account Login facility, where available

iii) If you arrive at this site via a third party (i.e. affiliate) site, in which case we note the site you originated from (note that nothing personally identifiable is stored along with this, other than the pure lead source)

Cookies are not used, or set by the Bond and Bywater site without good reason. Each of the cookies listed below are critical to enabling site functionality. You can still browse our site anonymously, until such time as you request one of the previously mentioned facilities.

A summary table follows explaining about each cookie this site uses..

BB_EU_COOKIE_LAW_CONSENT Used to record your consent / agreement to understanding that cookies are used on this site. We must adhere to what is known as the EU Cookie Law. This involves us providing details as to what cookies this site uses (our cookie policy) and what each cookie is used for. We provide these details here in this section of our Privacy Policy that you are reading now. In addition, we also provide a clear alert when you arrive at our site, which contains links to allow you to consent / agree to your understanding that this site uses cookies and a link to the section of our Privacy Policy you are reading now relating to our use of cookies.

7 - Handling of Sensitive Data Transmitted to and from this Site

Certain sections of the website require that you enter sensitive information (such as credit card details when purchasing online with us) and wherever this takes place, we have taken all steps to ensure that the data is handled securely using https (SSL/TLS) secure connections. The https secure connections use 128-bit high encryption to ensure all transactions are conducted securely between your web browser and our system. Look for the padlock in the bottom-right corner of your browser when accessing secure pages - this will provide confirmation of our identity by a third party.
